He introduced me to the basic concepts of ATM (Attention Through Movement) which helped immediately address patterns in my movement that were inefficient. I could see the benefits of those adjustments very clearly. I sought help for a nagging shoulder injury and decided to try Feldenkrais with Ravi. The results have been excellent—my shoulder mobility is much better, and the pain is almost gone! It didn't just help the injury heal, the gentle movements made me feel great overall. Ravi really helped me with my knee pain about 1 year ago. I went to see him when I started to have sudden knee spasms. He immediately noticed that my pelvis was tilted backward, causing unnecessary strain on the outside of my knees. He offered some exercises and mental models to follow. Within two weeks, voila! I felt more balanced and the knee spasms were gone! Another added benefit was that I felt like I was playing the best tennis of my life! I'm a fairly active participant, so at first this was a bit perplexing. Then it started to make sense...instead of fighting gravity, I was starting to learn to embrace the natural support system our bodies offer. I cannot speak highly enough of Atlanta Feldenkrais, and specifically of my practitioner, Ravi. This therapy was recommended to me by my interventional/regenerative orthopedist as an adjunct to the injection plan I am on. Working with Ravi has resulted in a very notable improvement for me as part of a plan of therapies and specialists who are helping me with different issues. I am more aware of how I am moving (or not moving) my body and also realized that I had established behavioral patterns that were contributing to, and possibly were the cause of my pain. We also work on different breathing techniques and awareness of the breath which has additionally helped open up parts of my body that had been "stuck". This method teaches body and breath awareness and through this awareness, you begin to move about more efficiently and effectively in life. I reference "moving or not moving my body" and "stuck" because when I started working with Ravi, that is exactly how I felt. I felt like my body was stuck. I would constantly hold my upper body tight, clench my jaw, and not move my upper body that should have been moving as part of my whole skeleton. It was as if the top half of my body was a concrete block that didn't freely move and wasn't really part of the rest of my body. I was also constantly holding my breath. All of these things were going on as a result of an intense corporate career, but I didn't experience these things just when I was working. It carried into every part and aspect of my life and I didn't know how to stop or get out of it. Now I feel free, and I feel the movement in the parts of my body that hadn't moved for maybe a decade. I breathe more easily. I'm more calm. The results have been fantastic. I write this background so that anyone else who may be going through the same thing finds this helpful. It's kind of hard to succinctly explain how this therapy works. But it works. And for me it did wonders. Thank you so much, Ravi, for all of your hard work with my case.
